Renting cars and motorcycles on Koh Chang
Cars, motorcycles and bicycles can be hired from many hire firms and resorts. Cycling on Koh Chang is a real challenge!
You will find many motorcycle rental outlets along the main roads. You will be asked to sign a contract and deposit some form of ID when renting. Also check the petrol (gas) tank when you set out because it will probably be close to empty and running out on a steep hill in the middle of nowhere could well ruin your day.
You can get petrol (gas) all over the island either from gas stations (a few) or from roadside stalls selling gas from one litre bottles. More expensive than the gas stations but very convenient. Expect to pay about 40 baht / litre for fuel.
Remember that the island has only one road and accidents are frequent. Drive carefully and please, please wear a helmet like you would at home. Sometimes the local police set up road blocks and will fgine you 300 Baht If you don't have a helmet.
