journeys end koh chang logoJourneys End

Journey’s End is a friendly English-run homestay and bar down on the shoreside in beautiful and peaceful Chek Bae down in the Southeastern corner of Koh Chang.
Very few people even make it to this part of the island and if you’re a get-away-from-it-all kind of person then you’ll be very happy that they don’t since you’ll have this beautiful bay almost to yourself.

There’s plenty to do here though. The owners have a boat which you can hop onto for snorkelling, fishing and island hopping. Or you can paddle around the bay on one of their kayaks.

The accommodation of offer is in comfy bungalows or garden tent hire is also available.

Watching the sunset from their bar is almost obligatory of course and they have a tasty menu so you definitely won’t go hungry.

Amber Sands Koh Chang

Amber Sands Beach Resort

Amber Sands business is a small, award-winning family run resort metres from a quiet, almost deserted beach on the less touristy north-east coast of Koh Chang where guests enjoy a personal, individual experience.

If crowds, action and busy beaches are your thing then this isn’t the kind of place for you.

But of you prefer peace and quiet and friendly & personal service then you should look at their rave reviews.

There are just eight spacious air-conditioned bungalows and rooms, set in a tropical garden, all with views of the beach laid out in a semi-circle around a swimming pool. Whilst they have traditional thatched roofs the rooms are all fully equipped and modern on the inside.

The Restaurant at the ever-popular Amber Sands Beach Resort is one of the East Coast’s most popular places to eat and drink. The resort’s restaurant is located in a rustic beachside wooden building next to beautifully landscaped gardens and pool. The Resort must be doing something right since every year for the last three years they have been selected by TripAdvisor as one of the top 25 B&B’s and small Inns in Thailand.

The open-sided thatch roof restaurant opens onto the beach and straight into the sea. The setting offers a sweeping view over the palm-fringed beach, traditional Thai stilt houses and fish traps, continuing to the Thai mainland and the distant mountains of Cambodia.

Their website offers a good insight into the food on offer
“Start your day by joining us for a freshly prepared breakfast where you can choose between fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast, preserves, bacon, eggs cooked as you like or, for the more adventurous, traditional Thai style breakfasts. Finish off with freshly brewed coffee, from the north of Thailand, or genuine English Twinings tea.
Our Thai chefs will entice your taste buds with a selection of well known Thai dishes and local cuisine, prepared using only the freshest seasonal produce. Our menu includes a variety of Western dishes to accommodate those yearning for a break from the spicy food.

They offer: Breakfasts – Snacks –  Thai favourites – Western meals – Kiddies menu – Fresh fruit shakes –  Cocktails

Guests are encouraged to “linger longer”. There is no rush for you to finish your meal and make way for the next guests. Take a dip in the sea to refresh yourself for the next course, an ice cream, or round of drinks. They also have a lounge area where you may sit and read, or catch up on your emails.
